Overheard in New York: Garment District Style

Yesterday, as I was walking home through my neighborhood, I heard two tourists loudly wondering where they should stand to wait for the bus.

"We can't wait here!" one of them exclaimed, "The sign says 'no standing'!"

One of my new favorite "overheard in New York" moments. Have you ever heard tourists say something silly in your town?

  2. @Leslie - It just means that a bus stops right at that particular spot, so cars are not only banned from parking there, but can't even stop and idle there (or "stand") because they might get their butts run over by a bus ;)

  4. awww poor girls, being from the midwest myself I probably would have been confused too. But I think I've seen signs like that around taxi stands right? So other cars don't take the taxi spots.
