First NYC Snowfall of the Season?

Last night, while walking home from "Fuerza Bruta" (go see it!!), we came across Madison Square Park blanketed in the first snowfall of the year:

Or was it?

Not really, since the rest of the city is decidedly NOT covered in snow. Actually, it seems like they must be filming something set during the winter, since they put a whole lot of effort into trucking in snow machines and blanketing four whole blocks in man-made snow, then proceeding to rope it all off with caution tape.

It was just a funny thing to all of a sudden step into a winter wonderland and then right out of it again. Only in New York, huh?

Has your area had its first snowfall yet?

  1. I was in the city last weekend with friends who were visiting, and right near Fox News there was a bit of snow as well. My TX pal decided to go play in it and I have since posted the pictures on Facebook. Oh New York, gotta love it! I'll have to look into that show! (We see Bloody Bloody AJ last weekend, and I loved it! Have you seen it?

  2. This totally reminds me of that part in RENT where they say "Maybe it's not the moon at all - I hear Spike Lee's filming down the street..." Sorry I'm a total RENThead!

  10. Yep it was Mr Popper's Penguins. I live on the UES, and they blanketed from park over to 5th with snow as well for filming, then I saw a scene being filmed. It was pretty awesome =o)
