One (very over-sized) dose of holiday cheer, coming up!

We were in Jack's 99 cent store last night looking for cheap ornaments to fill up the cheap vase I bought from TJMaxx. We did find those and create this (I think) decidedly non-cheap-looking Christmas centerpiece:

But what this post is really about would be this lovely holiday decoration:

The LARGEST CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT KNOWN TO MAN! Dan and I kept trying to figure out what this could possibly be used for. The only thing that comes to me would be something like decorating the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, but come on...you know they don't use dollar store ornaments at Rockefeller Center.

Any ideas?

  1. I love the ornament vase. I've been trying to find one like that for awhile.

Maybe you can hang that HUGE ornament on your door in place of a wreath. :)

  2. I would adore hanging those outside on the house.. or in the big trees!!! Was it really $0.99?!??

  3. I guess I hadn't considered the possibilities for using this ornament on a big house or yard...my mind doesn't think like that surrounded by skyscrapers and small apartments, I guess! :)

But that huge ornamnent? Made for giants. Obviously.

  5. Maybe that huge ornament could be hung on a door knob? Or over a mantle?

Perhaps it's just a novelty. Who knows... Guess it's reflective of Christmas spirit!

  6. I know alot of people hang multiples off balconies or front stoops! Picture here:http://yourinterior.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/potterybarn-entryway2010.jpg?w=500&h=390 (it's KMSull from WB, btw)

  7. @Andnowlights: Hi, KMSull! ;) That's really gorgeous, and a use for them that I don't think I would ever have thought of! I still think those ornaments are about half as big as the one we found, though!

  9. LOOOOVE JACKS!! I walk past the 45th St. store twice a day and sometimes I seriously have to cross the street to stop myself from going in. Have you checked out the (soooo cheap) bookstore next to it too? I'm going to have to start walking down 44th st!! LOL

  11. @Dancy: Oh, Jacks is like my Achilles' heel! I usually go to the ones on 32nd or 39th because they're closer to our place, but just stopped by the 45th st store the other day and could NOT refrain from purchasing a holiday decoration. Good thing everything's cheap, haha. Never checked out the bookstore, will have to now! Look what you've done to me! :)
